A child asked Ajahn Brahm, “Why does the calm I feel during meditation disappear after meditation?”
Ajahn Brahm answered, “When the rain stops, we can no longer see the rainwater. But the rainwater seeps into the ground, into the flowers and into the trees. Even if there is any left, it will flow into rivers, seas and oceans.
Likewise, calm cannot be felt after completing meditation. The calm is not lost, but the calm will remain in our minds, and brings inner insight, wisdom and limitations.”
